LAKS fue fundada en 1986 por Lucas Alexander Karl Scheybal en Viena y es una empresa familiar austriaca. Lucas empezó a pintar y componer música a una edad muy temprana. Más tarde se interesó por las nuevas tecnologías y el diseño industrial. Estudió Económicas e inventó Watch2Pay, el primer reloj NFC (Near Field Communication) del mundo, certificado para pagos sin contacto con Mastercard® en 2006.
