Lucas Alexander Karl Scheybal perusti LAKSin vuonna 1986 Wienissä, ja se on itävaltalainen perheyritys. Lucas aloitti maalaamisen ja musiikin säveltämisen hyvin varhaisessa iässä. Myöhemmin hän kiinnostui uusista teknologioista ja teollisesta muotoilusta. Hän opiskeli taloustiedettä ja keksi Watch2Payn, maailman ensimmäisen NFC-kellon (Near Field Communication), joka sertifioitiin kosketuksettomiin maksuihin Mastercard®:n kanssa vuonna 2006.
