LAKS asutas 1986. aastal Lucas Alexander Karl Scheybal Viinis ja on Austria perefirma. Lucas alustas maalimist ja muusika koostamist juba väga varases eas. Hiljem hakkas ta huvituma uutest tehnoloogiatest ja tööstusdisainist. Ta õppis majandust ja leiutas Watch2Pay, maailma esimese NFC (Near Field Communication) kella, mis sertifitseeriti 2006. aastal Mastercard®-i kontaktivabade maksete jaoks.
