Founder, Designer, Composer, and Visionary at LAKS

Founded in 1986, LAKS is a family-owned Austrian company and the brainchild of Lucas Alexander Karl Scheybal. Known for its pioneering work in wearable technology, LAKS stands for the initials of the founder’s full name, representing a journey that began in Vienna and continues to lead the field in 2024.

As an inventor and designer, Lucas has always been inspired by moments and memories, translating them into unique products that blend art with cutting-edge tech. A testament to LAKS’s impact is its historical presence in the British Museum, which has displayed the first LAKS payment-enabled wearable watch since 2010.

Product Highlight: Ring2Pay LEOPARD

The new Ring2Pay LEOPARD is inspired by a childhood memory of a leopard leaping through a hoop, symbolizing agility, precision, and strength. This piece reflects LAKS’s vision for combining art and technology as the world’s thinnest payment ring.

Music & Artistry
Lucas is also a dedicated pianist, having recorded over 100 live compositions worldwide. His music reflects his travels, interactions, and creative process at LAKS, embodying a unique blend of influences and emotions. Additionally, Lucas incorporates drone footage into his video storytelling, transforming real-world landscapes into dynamic visual narratives, showcased in works some examples:

He play the piano and have spent over 40 years developing my own distinct style. In the past 20 years, he recorded more than 100 live pieces across the globe. Each piece is shaped by global influences, including the places I travel, the people he meet, product innovations, his family, and the ongoing developments at LAKS. It represents a unique exchange and processing of ideas, infused with deep emotions and a rich musical essence.
